چکیده

Abstract Various fungal species continue to be one of the most difficult challenges faced by farmers, and hence societies in whole, when it comes securing plentiful wholesome food for a rapidly growing human population. Understanding biology pathogenic fungi detail, both at population molecular levels, combined with continued emphasis on resistance breeding important crops, offers obvious sustainable solution this pressing problem. Here we present results virulence testing microsatellite analysis collection Icelandic Rynchosporium commune isolates test whether previously demonstrated genetic diversity observed translated into functional these isolates. Our show considerable R. samples each isolate having unique spectrum 15 near-isogenic barley lines used screening. findings have practical implications, showing that even short continuous cultivation isolation geographical distance, Icelandic, likely other remote or isolated locations, still needs consider importance disease decisions variation local pathotypes. Moreover, our is first step focused conditions, an ongoing project.

Are PECTIN ESTERASE INHIBITOR Genes Involved in Mediating Resistance to Rhynchosporium commune in Barley?

A family of putative PECTIN ESTERASE INHIBITOR (PEI) genes, which were detected in the genomic region co-segregating with the resistance gene Rrs2 against scald caused by Rhynchosporium commune in barley, were characterized and tested for their possible involvement in mediating resistance to the pathogen by complementation and overexpression analysis. The sequences of the respective genes were ...

Local adaptation and evolutionary potential along a temperature gradient in the fungal pathogen Rhynchosporium commune

To predict the response of plant pathogens to climate warming, data are needed on current thermal adaptation, the pathogen's evolutionary potential, and the link between them. We conducted a common garden experiment using isolates of the fungal pathogen Rhynchosporium commune from nine barley populations representing climatically diverse locations. Clonal replicates of 126 genetically distinct ...

Two new species of Rhynchosporium.

Rhynchosporium consists of two species, R. secalis and R. orthosporum. Both are pathogens of grasses with R. secalis infecting a variety of Poaceae hosts and R. orthosporum infecting Dactylis glomerata. Phylogenetic analyses of multilocus DNA sequence data on R. secalis isolates originating from cultivated barley, rye, triticale and other grasses, including Agropyron spp., Bromus diandrus and H...

Some evidence for skewed mating type distribution in Iranian populations of Rhynchosporium commune, the cause of barley scald disease

Rhynchosporium commune (formerly known as Rhynchosporium secalis), the causal agent of scald disease on barley, is known to spread asexually by splash dispersed conidia. However, there are multiple lines of evidence for the possibility of a clandestine sexual cycle occurrence in this species including extensive genotypic diversity, equal distribution of mating type alleles across the world and ...

Virulence Factors Variation Among Bordetella Pertussis Isolates in Iran

Pertussis is still endemic and the recently resurgence of the disease caused by Bordetella pertussis has been shown in many countries. The polymorphism of the virulence genes of B. pertussis and lack of any information about the allelic variation between the Iranian isolates promotes us to analysis of the genes encoded virulence factors including ptxS1, prn, fim3 and cya to understand the diffe...
